L'Abattoir Modern French

L'Abattoir Modern French

A casual modern french restaurant with a dimly lit and clamoring dining room, L’Abattoir in central Vancouver is a great date night choice for some decadent food.

I had the quail with smoked and grilled foie gras. The accompanying turnip and escarole gave it a pleasant and refreshing Asian flair. Combining the different vegetables and proteins in my mouth created new and welcoming flavors.

I enjoyed their breadbasket quite a bit. The crispy flatbread with sesame was fragrant, and the brioche was rich.

This was my first time trying sweetbread. The sauces had great flavors, but the texture was less than desirable. I guess I don’t have the stomach for sweetbread.

The tandoori-style sablefish with an Indian flair was my favorite. The fish was delicate, buttery, and fragrant with Indian spices. The crab turnover on top gives a nice crispy contrast to the texture of the fish.
